Evergreen, clump-forming cormous perennial with long, narrow leaves and slender arching stems bearing nodding, deep red-purple, bell-shaped flowers in summer. The pendulous habit of these flowers is said to resemble silvery fishes on an angler's rod (hence the common name Angel's Fishing Rods).
